InPage

InPage is the industry-standard desktop publishing tool for producing newspapers, magazines, and books in Urdu and Arabic script. It's built specifically around the technical demands of Nastaliq and other character-based fonts, which general-purpose word processors handle poorly or not at all.

Using InPage, designers can lay out pages in nearly any Perso-Arabic script - including Urdu, Arabic, Persian, Sindhi, Kashmiri, Pashto, and Hazaragi - with accurate calligraphic rendering of the Nastaliq style that these languages traditionally rely on. The software also handles the tricky task of mixing right-to-left scripts with left-to-right languages like English within the same document, a common requirement for bilingual publications.

Despite its specialized purpose, InPage runs on a standard Windows interface that's consistent across supported versions of the operating system, which has helped it remain the default tool in Urdu-language publishing for decades, from small newsletters to major national newspapers.
